jQuery 1.5

jQuery 1.5 has been released. The biggest changes are an Ajax rewrite,
jQuery.sub, and traversal method performance improvements.

11 More Things I Learned from the jQuery Source

11 More Things I Learned from the jQuery Source
by Paul Irish is a 29 minute screencast that covers:

  • pseudo-module patterns with self-executing anonymous functions (apparently some people prefer the term IIFE)
  • data()'s new HTML5 features
  • Operator precedence
  • Live and static nodelists
  • cssHooks and other CSS stuff
  • How \$.fn works

If you follow our LMAF series you'll know digging into jQuery is
interesting, so I think you'll enjoy this too.

jQuery Deconstructed

On a similar note, jQuery
Deconstructed

is an interesting visual tour of jQuery's innards:

The Deconstructed series is designed to visually and interactively deconstruct the internal code of JavaScript libraries, including jQuery, Prototype and MooTools. It breaks the physical JavaScript into visual blocks that you can easiliy navigate. Each block opens to reveal its internal code. Clickable hyperlinks allow you to follow program flow.
